CoachingSeach.com has learned that former USC linebackers coach Mike Ekeler will join Mark Richt's staff at Georgia.
Ekeler will teams up with Kevin Sherer to coach the linebackers for the Bulldogs. He will also serve an integral role the Bulldogs’ special teams.
In his career, Ekeler has been a part of six conference championship teams and three BCS national championship games.
Prior to coaching for the Trojans, Ekeler served on the staffs at Indiana, Nebraska, LSU, and Oklahoma.
At Nebraska, he recruited and developed All-American linebacker Lavonte David, who was an NFL All-Pro linebacker for the Tampa Bay Bucs this season.
At USC, Ekeler developed second team All-PAC-12 linebacker Hayes Pullard and served an integral role in the Trojans 10-4 season.
As a player, Ekeler was appointed team captain in 1995 at Kansas State by head coach Bill Snyder. He was a star special teams player and the only player ever appointed team captain by Snyder.
After Jeremy Pruitt jumped in the boat, CoachingSearch.com successfully predicted a couple of weeks ago that Mark Richt would hire the trio of Rocker, Sherer, and either Ekeler or Tyson Summers.
