Source: Zook to join Packers staff

Per source, Ron Zook will join the Green Bay Packers staff.

Zook most recently served as the head coach at Illinois from 2005-11. He was the head coach at Florida from 2002-04.

This is Zook’s fourth stint in the NFL, previously serving as special teams coach for the Pittsburgh Steelers (1996-98), defensive backs coach for the Kansas City Chiefs (1999) and defensive coordinator for the New Orleans Saints (2000-01).

CoachingSearch.com has also learned that former Detroit Lions running backs coach Sam Gash will also join the staff as running backs coach.

The Packers are looking for a linebackers coach to replace Kevin Greene and an assistant special teams coach to replace Chad Morton. CoachingSearch reported earlier in the week that former Tampa Bay Bucs assistant Phil Galiano had interviewed for the assistant special teams job. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports Zook will be the assistant special teams coach.
