Source: Robinson to San Jose State has learned that former Texas defensive coordinator Greg Robinson has accepted the defensive coordinator job at San Jose State.

Robinson replaces Kenwick Thompson, who joined the Vanderbilt staff.

Robinson, who was born in California and played at Bakersfield and Pacific, spent the final 10 games in 2013 as the defensive coordinator at Texas. He had been hired in July as a football analyst.

Previously, the 62-year-old Robinson was the defensive coordinator at Michigan from 2009-10 and head coach at Syracuse from 2005-08. Other stops in his career include the Kansas City Chiefs, Denver Broncos, New York Jets, UCLA, NC State, Cal State-Fullerton and Pacific.

San Jose State opens the 2014 against North Dakota. One week later, the Spartan travel south to play at Auburn. The rest of the non-conference schedule includes games at Minnesota and at Navy.
